All Chat History

I have a user who wants to see all their chats appear in the left hand side navigation under 'Chat'.  There are currently two options 'pinned' and 'recent' where chats appear. Is there a limit or date range for chats that appear under recent? and is there any way to get all of a users  chats  messages to appear here?
