Adding users to a private channel in a public team

Morning all.

I have not been able to test this yet hence my question.

Scenario - I have a public team in place where I am only a member and permissions are setup so members can create channels.

I have created numerous public channels. I have also created one private channel. 

Question - I know that if I had this scenario in a private team, as an owner of the private channel I can add anyone who is a member of the private team to that channel. In the scenario above, as everyone has automatic access to a public team, does that mean that I can add any of those people to my private channel?
