Adding teachers as students for Demo class
- Aug 08, 2020Hi silky1006
I have just tested this in an Microsoft 365 EDU tenant
You can 100% add teachers as students to a particular class. It will not impact their permissions elsewhere. It will simply mean that in that class (Team) they will have student (member) permissions instead of teacher (owner) permissions. In other words it will only impact what they can do in that team, not in Teams overall
Hope that makes sense and answers your question
Best, Chris
Yes, you can add teachers as students in a Class Team for demonstration or training purposes. This is a common approach when testing assignments, grading workflows, and the student experience.
Being added as a student in your demo class will not interfere with their ability to create or manage their own Class Teams. A user can be a teacher in one Team and a student in another without any issues.
For the best demo experience:
- Create a separate test Class Team.
- Add participating teachers as students.
- Use sample assignments and materials.
- Remove the Team when training is complete if it's no longer needed.
Many educational organizations use this method to train staff before rolling out Teams to students. Similarly, online learning platforms such as QuranPakTutors.com often use test environments to help instructors become familiar with teaching tools before working with actual learners.
This setup should work perfectly for your demo purposes.
