Warning on Modern Document Library when editing columns in locked file

I really wish that the Modern Document Library functionality had better notifications and warnings in it.  I just spent over an hour trying to figure out why certain column modifications weren't getting executed despite the interface showing me that they had been "Saved".  Switching over to the Classic View showed me that I'm the person that was preventing the save because in one of my browser windows I had the file open and therefore locked.  According the Modern Document Library interface everything appeared fine except for that my changes weren't actually getting executed.  The Classic interface showed me that there was a simple fix.
