Is there any API available to extract data from word, powerpoint, excel files?

we are currently working on creating a react component to view word, excel and PowerPoint files. I am wondering if Microsoft exposes any API's to extract all the data like text, images, graphs, tables from word/excel/PowerPoint files to develop our own individual component for those file types?
