I had the same problem.
I think you have already solved the issue, anyway I write down, because I think other people may have the same problem.
If this failure occurs. Above the excel icon has 3 points ("..."), click there and then choose the last option "sync in a new file" (I dont know exactly the sentence written in english). Then, try again to click over the excel summary and then it will be downloaded.
