Change Default Date format?

The default format in my Forms for dates is M/d/yyyy.  Is there any way to change this in the forms? 

When I add automations with flows such as custom e-mail, the format becomes yyyy/MM/dd and I'm unable to change that with a formula expression.  I'm getting a "null" error, I'm thinking because the source date field isn't formatted the way it wants it. 

Any solution or work around for this?
