Allow user edit option - forms for excel

hi all

 

does anyone know why the 'allow user to edit responses' function isnt available when you create a form from 'forms for excel'.

 

i need my form to write to excel automatically and this is presenting me using the option, which is vital to what i'm trying to do

    Forms with Excel data sync does not support response editing. There is a plan to enable it, but at this moment, there is no commitment from the product team regarding a timeline.
