Why doesn't the copilot key work with work accounts?
Hello pixel_density,
Happy New Year 2025 😊!!
The issue with the Copilot key not working with work accounts can be due to several reasons:
- Licensing Requirements: Copilot features might require specific licenses that are not included with some work accounts. Ensure that your work account has the necessary licenses for Copilot
- Account Restrictions: Some organizations may have policies or restrictions in place that prevent the use of certain features or applications with work accounts
- Recent Updates: There have been updates that changed how Copilot integrates with work accounts. For example, a recent update undocked Copilot from the taskbar and made it a standalone app, which might affect its functionality with work accounts
- Configuration Issues: There might be configuration settings that need to be adjusted to allow Copilot to work with your work account. Checking with your university IT department might help resolve these issues
Hope this helps 😊

Try Settings > Personalisation > Text Input > Customise Copilot key on keyboard. This worked for me, but possibly only because my work account is linked to a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription, so I was able to select between "Copilot" and "Microsoft 365 Copilot".

It worked before an update that came in early October. Some other users - as I have noticed - have already written about this: ( https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/discussions/microsoft365copilot/updated-copilot-app-doesnt-work-with-work-account/4262867 )
But it hasn't changed since then.
I will try to contact the IT department, but I heavily doubt it that they will be able to do anything to solve the issue.

No, this does not help. It only explains why this may be happening, but it does not give the user a solution. My son has the Surface Pro and has been experiencing the same problem since getting a school account. There must be a way that a user can solve this situation on his own, because the school certainly won't be able to help.
