Using CoPilot for Shared Calendars
Hi - As an Administrative Assistant, I'm very excited about using CoPilot. At the moment, it's very limited for me because I cannot use it with the shared calendars I manage for others. I am really looking forward to being able to create an agent that will find events of based on categories in shared calendars. Is that something that is in the pipeline? It would greatly expand useability for those of us who spend our days in the calendar. Thank you.

Hi LLB1 Microsoft is working on this topic.
Have a look on this roadmap item:
https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?id=413718
But as Surya_Narayana told, in the moment it is not possiblehi LLB1 Good question — you’re not alone in wondering how Microsoft Copilot works (or doesn’t work yet) with shared calendars. Here’s a breakdown of what’s possible today, what’s on Microsoft’s roadmap, and some tips to help you get the most out of Copilot as an admin assistant.
What’s on the roadmap — there is hope for shared calendar support soon
- According to a Microsoft 365 blog post (Oct 2025), a new update is rolling out that will allow delegates with access to others’ calendars to use Copilot Chat to search/manage those calendars via Copilot.
- The feature list includes search by organizer or delegate and improved calendar-based capabilities, which should help administrative assistants and people managing others’ schedules.
- So while it’s not yet fully available everywhere, support for shared/delegate calendars is being actively worked on.
What you can do today, and how to prepare
If you’re an Administrative Assistant managing shared calendars, here’s how to make the most of current capabilities and get ready for upcoming features:
- Use Copilot for tasks on your own calendar today (e.g. drafting invites, summarizing upcoming meetings, planning your own schedule).
- Track calendar data manually for shared calendars — until shared-calendar support is fully rolled out.
- Stay up to date — watch the Microsoft 365 roadmap and update Copilot/Outlook when new versions release.
- Once shared-calendar delegate support becomes available, test it first in a safe environment, and plan training for end users.
- Document feedback and limitations — user feedback on shared-calendar behavior helps Microsoft prioritize improvements.
