How can I permanently remove the irritating copilot icon from my word document
How do I get rid of this from the documents I create? I have copilot switched off in preferences and I have it deleted from my menu bar and yet, I just can't get rid of this icon/text?
How do I just get a normal word document?
I noticed that my subscription sneakily went up to £105 per year from £80 per year and the only way to revert back to my old subscription was to cancel it. So, I don't have copilot switched on, nor am I or will I pay for it but the copilot prompt just won't disappear.
Any ideas would be welcome... thanks

I think you are looking for this support article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-off-copilot-in-microsoft-365-apps-bc7e530b-152d-4123-8e78-edc06f8b85f1
Note the instructions below only work for the client apps. You can not disable the icon in the web versions. Here are the instructions:
Clear the "Enable Copilot" checkbox on Mac devices- In your app (for example, Word), select the app menu, and then go to Preferences > Authoring and Proofing Tools > Copilot.
- Clear the Enable Copilot checkbox.
- Close and restart the app.
Also you should note that if you are using an external mouse you can right click on a Mac. You just can't from the trackpad easily. Hope this helps

Amelia,
Hi
How would I remove the licence? Is it some file I just delete and would this affect how Mac Office works on my computer? Thanks, Maz
Hello mazzer ,
I would try to remove the license if you do not want to use Copilot.
Depending on your licensing, there may be ways to turn off Copilot.
Do you own M365 Copilot? Are you a home, education, enterprise, or business license user?
Regards,
Amelia

MS have done little to improve, for mature and well-versed users like myself they are forcing junk tech upon us ( AI is junk) like it or not, it is trying to replace ther human brain, which Gen Z already did with air,
Forcing junk on us without our permission prior to doing so, I note all the smart alec answers and to this I say go back to gen Z . I have worked very well without having to have a machine think for me and have no need for the silicon valley ''geniuses'' to add nonsense garbage on my machines or waste my staff`s time fixing things we don't need. Amen

To disable or hide Microsoft Copilot, you can do it in several ways:
1. Disable it completely: Open Word, click File > Options > General, find the settings related to Office Intelligent Services or the Copilot feature and turn them off.
2. Hide the icon: Right-click the Copilot icon and select Hide or Minimize.
3. Remove from Ribbon: Click File > Options > Customize Ribbon, find the Copilot feature and uncheck it.
4. Check for updates: Click File > Account > Update Options > Update Now to make sure Word is up to date.
5. Feedback: Click Help > Feedback in Word to submit your questions or suggestions to Microsoft.
6. Repair or reinstall: Via Control Panel > Programs and Features, locate Microsoft Office and select Change > Repair and reinstall if necessary.- mazzerBrass Contributor
Hi there,
Thanks for your reply.
Option 1 tried and does not hide the default copilot info I get on every new document.
Option 2 - you can't right click the icon on Mac Word
Option 3 tried and does not hide the default copilot info I get on every new document.
Option 4 - updated to current version but still get the default copilot page
Option 5 - done and no effect
Option 6 - done a re-install and no change.
Here is the default screen I get on EVERY document I create. Once I start typing, it disappears though. I don't want it there in the first place because Copilot is disabled!!! It doesn't make sense.
Thanks, Maz
