Copilot Access to Calendar and Email
We have Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses, which we purchased so we would have AI access to our firm data. I have Outlook for iOS, where my M365 account is the primary account. Copilot is one of the icons at the bottom of the screen, along with Mail, Calendar, and Apps. The problem is that Copilot, accessed from within the iOS Outlook, does not have access to my Calendar or Email. It cannot place an event on my calendar; it cannot review my email for a piece of information or particular sender. Is that the expected behavior? It would mean that the purchase of Copilot licenses is only good for (a) general questions of the type that do not require the license, and (b) using Copilot from within a SPO site. Is there no way to provide Copilot with direct access to my EWS data?

First, let’s check that Copilot Chat experience in iOS Outlook. Make sure that the toggle at the top of the screen is switched to Work mode. You should be able to ask it questions about your work data (e.g. What should be on my radar for today?)
This Copilot experience is the same Chat that you get elsewhere (e.g. m365.cloud.microsoft, Teams, M365 Copilot app) it’s not quite like the embedded experience you access in Outlook via the ribbon (top) menu that can take action (e.g. set up 1:1 meetings).
However, you still get functionality like:
- Schedule with Copilot (turns email into a calendar invite)
- Summarise
- Draft/rewrite/coaching
