DLP policy tooltips not appearing in Outlook 365
Hi,
I have configured a DLP policy in compliance.microsoft.com to provide a tooltip with override if certain keywords are found in the email. The policy works as intended in Outlook for Web, but does not appear in Outlook 365 Desktop. My rule looks like this:
Content contains...<a custom information type list>
Sender domain is...
Recipient address matches patterns... (Recipient domain is...not allowed)
Restrict access or encrypt the content in Microsoft 365 locations - checked
Block users from receiving email or accessing - selected
Block everyone - selected
Use notifications to inform your users - On
Notify the user who sent, shared, or last modified the content - selected
Customize the email text - selected
Customize the policy tip text - checked
Allow overrides from M365 services - checked
Require a business justification to override - checked
Send an alert to admins when a rule match occurs - On
I've followed the instructions here: Send email notifications and show policy tips for DLP policies - Microsoft 365 Compliance | Microsoft Docs
and I've followed troubleshooting instructions here: Troubleshooting Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policy tips - Office 365 | Microsoft Docs
I am testing with Windows 11. I'm hoping one of you with more experience setting up DLP tool tips successfully can help me out.
Thanks! - Richard
- milomilo1595Copper Contributorsame problem here, it worked before 08/2023, now only working in OWA not on Desktop.
No xml PolicyNudges xml files at all, also deleted registy key stays deleted
😞 - Outlook needs to download the policy data first, this can take some time. Check the C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook folder for any PolicyNudgeRules_*.xml and PolicyNudgeClassificationDefinitions_*.xml files.
- RichardWOJRCopper ContributorHi Vasil,
Thank you for your reply. I found neither of those files in that Outlook folder. The policy and rule were created over a week ago. What could be preventing them from getting there?
Thanks,
Richard- Try forcing the download via the reg key mentioned here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/troubleshoot/data-loss-prevention/data-loss-prevention-not-work#workaround
