Setup school PC and "Enable local storage” problem
Hi,
in our organisation we use the Setup School PC App to deploy Windows to our personal student PCs.
It seems that the older PCs are deployed without the option “Enable local storage”.
I tried to change this by using Intune / Configuration Manager Profiles. The changes are deployed successfully if I see the report page. But unfortunately the devices do not react.
Any hint how to go on and solve this issue?
Best regards.
Hi FSERZ,
thanks for the update.
I am sorry that this didn't work for you.
You can try these steps for troubleshooting:Compare Deployment Settings:
Compare the deployment settings between a clean installation with the latest "Setup for school PC" version and an older PC. This includes settings related to user profiles, folder redirection, and any other custom configurations.Review Windows Updates:
Check if there are any pending Windows updates on the affected PCs. Applying the latest updates may resolve compatibility issues.Event Viewer Logs:
Examine the Event Viewer logs on the affected PCs for any errors or warnings related to folder redirection, user profiles, or access issues. This may provide more details on what's causing the problem.

Hi FSERZ,
if I understood your question right, you are trying to enable local storage on older PCs using Intune/Configuration Manager Profiles. Here are the steps to try to achieve this:Navigate to the Microsoft Intune admin center.
Go to Devices > Configuration profiles > Create profile.
Name the profile and select Windows 10 and later as the platform.
Choose Custom as the profile type.
Add Oma-Uri settings:
- Name: Enter a descriptive name.
- Oma-Uri: ./Vendor/MSFT/Defender/Configuration/DeviceControlEnabled
- Data type: Select Integer
- Value: Enter 1 for Enable or 0 for Disable.
Save the profile.
Ensure the account has the necessary permissions for creating, editing, updating, or deleting device configuration profiles. Custom roles or built-in roles with these permissions can be used.

Hi Leon,
thanks for you reply.
I tried the Oma-Uri settings, but unfortunately there is no reaction by the devices. The configuration rules are deployed successfully.
If I read your link right, the settings are for external devices. But it doesn't matter if value "0" or "1", the devices are still accessable.
Maybe I described my problem not clear enough. In Windows file explorer only the "Downloads" folder is visible. All other folders like "Documents", "Pictures" and so on are not visible and accessable.
If I reinstall one of the old devices with the actual "Setup for school PC" version, everything is fine.
Best regards.
