can't restore from ios backup after enrolling onto intunes
- May 24, 2024
Just to be sure the device was already registered in Intune when the backup was performed? If this is the case you are unable to restore the device with this backup because the (former) MDM profile is part of the backup and after the new registration there is new MDM profile on the device. There can only be one MDM profile per device so it fails.
By the way if there is no MDM profile in the backup you should perform the restore during the Setup Wizard so you should enable this step in the Wizard in the DEP Enrollment profile. In this scenario you are able to restore and register correctly..

SebastiaanSmits many thanks for your response. Yes there was an MDM profile at the time of backup however as the token had expired I had to start the whole enrollment program again for all devices as I hadn’t realised it was expired until it was too late. So I deleted the device from intune to re enrol. But it seams I can’t restore the iPhone from that backup as it won’t connect back to intune with the new profile ??
am I correct in saying I just have to start from scratch without my previous device restored ? I can’t even login to company portal as it won’t find intune account. Strangely the device does pop up in the devices overview but does not communicate.
