Cannot delete a website shortcut by Intune managed iphone

Hi

We manually created a shortcut to a website from Safari browser and the shortcut is on the Intune managed iPhone. We don't need the shortcut now.

However we cannot delete it. Press and hold apps on this phone does not start wiggle mode and we cannot drag the shortcut onto a new home screen. We also cannot see it in the Apps list in Intune to delete either because it was manually added on that specific iPhone. Can you tell me if there is a away to delete the shortcuts please?

Kind regards

Rob

The above options are what I put in a test config and successfully synced to all phones. One of which I checked and deletion of any app is still not possible.

    Hi Jamony

thanks for your reply. We do have a 'Home Screen Layout' config in place to layout apps in a certain way.

But there is no option within that which we have that stops users from deleting apps.

In this case these were manually created shortcuts to web portals. But we have noticed a user cannot delete any app regardless.

So we did test one phone by putting the device in the deny group so the config for the Home Screen Layout  would not apply. The users still could not delete any apps.

When pressing and holding any app the wiggle mode on the iphone does not commence.

I created a Config that enabled the 'Allow App Removal' option, applied this to all phones. I just checked a phone and you still cannot delete the apps.

Do you know if this is a problem with Microsoft Intune / iOS?

    Kind regards

  • Hi, that sounds like the shortcut may be controlled by an Intune profile rather than behaving like a normal Safari home-screen icon. I’d check for a Web Clip, Home Screen Layout, kiosk/shared-device setting, or an app-removal restriction. If it came from a Web Clip policy, remove or update that assignment, sync the device, then restart the iPhone.
