Autopilot misconfiguration

I have two devices that appear in Azure Active Direcotry as Autopilot Devices. They are enrolled in Endpoint Manager successfully and the devices are working fine.

But, these two devices are NOT registered in Autopilot. In Endpoint Manager, if I go to Devices>Windows>Windows Enrollment>Devices, these two are not found.

My problem is that now I need to reset these devices. I can delete the devices from Endpoint Manager. But, they're not registered in Autopilot so I can't delete them from Autopilot, which means I can't delete them from Azure AD.

I have registered the device hardware IDs in Autopilot, and then deleted them, but the two devices still appear as Autopilot Devices in Azure AD, so I can't delete them.

Anybody have any ideas how I can get these devices to appear as regular devices in Azure AD instead of Autopilot Devices?

Thanks

  • I was able to delete the device from Azure AD by connect to Azure AD Powershell and running the Remove-AzureADDevice command.
    Thanks for you help everyone

You are correct, until you don't delete the devices from Autopilot you cannot delete them either from Azure or Intune.

but if the device has the AutoPilot icon on Azure it means it is autopilot and it should be found on Endpoint Manager > Devices > Enroll Devices > Devices > you should be able to find the device by Serial number, Manufacturer, and Model if not sure click on each device to find more maybe some more details on the right pane for that device help you.

    Hi Jared,

So you uploaded the hardware IDs to Intune, then you deleted the same devices you just uploaded from Intune again, correct? You should be able to remove from Azure Ad Devices. Can you share the errors/screenshots when try to delete?

Forgive me if I misunderstanding the scenario.
