Advanced Microsoft Intune capabilities - Coming to Education A5?
Microsoft's December 2025 announcement about folding Intune Suite into the base license was specific to Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 — education's A3 and A5 plans are not equivalent SKUs and weren't part of that announcement. A3 and A5 include Intune Plan 1 as standard (basic device/app management), but the advanced Suite features given free to E3/E5 customers are not automatically included in the education licenses.
A separate July 2026 pricing-changes roundup confirms this explicitly: as of Microsoft's February and March 2026 updates, education plans (A1, A3, A5) are not included in the impacted-product lists for either the pricing changes or the bundled capability rollout. That source recommends education institutions keep watching Microsoft's education-specific channels rather than assume they'll inherit the E-plan changes.
- Don't wait on a blog post — open a request with your Microsoft account team / education CSP partner and ask directly for A3/A5 Suite parity status. This is genuinely under-communicated territory, not something you're missing.
- Watch Message Center in your tenant (that's been the actual notification mechanism for the E3/E5 rollout, not the public blog).
- Check the Intune "What's new" / roadmap page in admin center under your own tenant, since entitlements sometimes activate before the public messaging catches up (which may explain the EPM situation).
