Why is my personal OneNote listing my OneNote for Business notebooks?

Last week was a horrible week for me, with OneDrive and OneNote. I don't know what's happened, but when I came back from the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on January 16, I discovered that some files had been deleted. I contacted my IT department, asking for help. The first thing they did was say that I have my personal OneNote and OneNote for Business both on my PC and that they don't support that. I told them that I've had it that way for many years with no problem. That didn't matter. They refused to help me any further.

Before leaving for the weekend, I discovered that somehow my personal OneNote now "sees", and I presume controls, all of my work OneNote notebooks!! (Please see the attached image.)

All of the lines which I've drawn out the work machines using a red marker, are my work OneNote for Business notebooks. Those should NOT be in my personal OneNote!! Why are they there? I tried to disconnect them by removing them from my personal OneNote, but there doesn't appear to be any way I can do that. What it wants to do is delete my business OneNote notebooks and I think other files. THAT IS NOT WHAT I WANT TO HAPPEN!!!

So, these are the questions. What is causing this? Why is my personal OneNote now tracking my work OneNote notebooks? Could there be a worse problem if my personal OneDrive is somehow accessing my work OneDrive for Business? I ask this because on Tuesday of last week there were about 60 files deleted. The only way I could get them back was to stop syncing both my personal OneDrive and my OneDrive for Business. But it got worse as the week went by, so that by Friday of last week whatever is causing this destructive behavior had deleted 4000+ files off my machine!!!!!!! I CANNOT WORK LIKE THIS WHEN SOMETHING IS DELETING FILES OFF MY MACHINE!!! And it's extremely frustrating that my IT department couldn't care less and will not do anything to help.

I need help and answers.

I've decided to unlink my work desktop PC from my personal OneDrive. I had to get access to my work related OneDrive for Business again.

But I am still bothered by the fact that other machines I have (a work laptop and a Microsoft Surface) al;l work fine with that configuration. So, why did my work desktop stop working with it?
