transfer Domain godaddy to microsoft 365

BenStegink you say it normally takes 10-20 minutes for the domain to be released from GoDaddy's NETORGFTxxxxxxxx.onmicrosoft.com tenant and be available for the new Microsoft tenant?

 

I'm 3 hours and counting and still getting To add this domain to this account you will need to contact GoDaddy support and have it removed from NETORGFTxxxxxxxx.onmicrosoft.com. After removal, it can take between 15 minutes and a few hours before you can add the domain here. Please wait, then come back here and resume this step.

 

I know separating out companies or merging companies tenancies it's usually been fairly quick. Maybe having to disable directory sync in source tenant issues. But as we have no control over any of that I have been putting off this GoDaddy to Microsoft migration for 18 months.

 

Finally bit the bullet.

 

3 hours of hitting the Verify "Try Again" button I am losing my hair and grinding my teeth.

 

Now I read someone on here couldn't get it to work after 14 days?!?!

 

If it's any more hours, can I just add the domain back to GoDaddy???

I've never tried to move it back to godaddy, so maybe? Without diving in and looking through everything it's hard to say why it's having issues. Lately I've also gone the route of defedering from GoDaddy first as well (see the posts further below)...that gives you a lot more control over it so you can force things to go quicker rather than waiting for GoDaddy. You still have the goofy domain, but once your deferderated you're in complete control.
