Strong Office 365 and Azure revenues in Microsoft's Q4 FY17 results

To reply to my own post, one of the most interesting points made by CFO Amy Hood is "for the first time, Office 365 commercial revenue surpassed revenue from our traditional licensing business.” 

In other words, the revenue generated by the on-premises versions of Exchange, SharePoint, etc. has now been surpassed by Office 365. That's a big statement.

Now, it could be that this is an accounting oddity caused by contract dates, etc., and that the revenues from the on-premises products will surpass Office 365 again in the next few quarters, but the signs are that the tipping point from on-premises to cloud is close if not at hand. Of course, this is revenues, not user numbers, as the data indicates that on-premises numbers are still larger than those using Office 365.
