S/MIME setting on iPhone with Office 365 MDM

Does someone know if we can use S/MIME on iPhone with Exchange ActiveSync when Office 365 MDM is applied? Currently, S/MIME setting on the Office 365's email profile is grayed out.

    I heard from MS O365 support team that we cannot configure S/MIME with Office 365 MDM. kanjis
