    I also have the same problem. I upgrade the Lync of MS Office Professional Plus 2013 to Skype for Business. But when I try to run the application, it stuck in "Welcome" just like the screenshot above. But you can still use the Skype for Business unless you don't close the "Skype for business has stopped working". 

    I tried to uninstall then reinstall the Upgrade for Lync. I also tried to uninstall then reinstall the whole MS Office but nothing works to remove the error dialog box "Skype for business has stopped working".

    There's no specifics here unless you supply log files.
    Let's go through some basic troubleshooting:
    - were you able to load it back up after it crashed?
    - does it keep happening?
    - does it happen on any other computers in your organisation?
