Service Health Status Best Practices

Is there a document/link available that lists best practices for monitoring service health, i.e. what not to do and what is most  useful etc.

 

We are saving data in substrate on behalf of our tenants and would like to provide additional services such as whether the browsers used to connect to our service need to be updated etc to address zero day vulnerabilities for ex.
