Purview DLP Blocks Sharing Files with Specific Domains or Users

A new DLP rule is available to control sharing of SharePoint and OneDrive files with selected domains and email addresses. The new rule supports an allow list (permit sharing) and can also specify a deny list (block sharing). The user interface takes a little getting used to, but when everything is configured and SharePoint has had a chance to respond to the block, the rule works and any attempt by a blocked user to use a sharing link is refused.

  • a) I can't provide support because I have no access to your tenant. Please file a support call with Microsoft to have them check things out.

    b) It's possible that the necessary software bits have not yet reached your tenant.

    c) As mentioned in the article, it can take several days before SharePoint synchronizes with DLP and makes the block effective.

Hello TonyRedmond I have created a DLP policy to block gmail.com for SSN but what I am seeing that other domains is also blocking whereas that is not mentioned in the block list, Is it expected?

I also see, external users are getting access denied but got the option on page to request access from Site Owner and owner can get the option to allow or deny request.

    Is this expected ?
