Problem with office 365 updates

Hi guys,

We are trying to keep our critical issues at a minimum and one of them is keeping office 365 up to date. most of our office updates will run perfectly fine automatically however a select few will often get stuck and will need an admin account to allow the update meaning we have to keep logging onto devices and updating them manually each week. Why do some of these updates and a small few users get stuck randomly?
