Outlook email preview won't display
At first I couldn't click on an email and open it in a new window. Now my email preview does not display at all. I have done nothing new. Downloaded nothing new. I have been successfully using email since I bought the computer six months ago. Have rebooted my computer and reset modem several times. I am able to click on New Email and that window displays.

Thank you for sending as I can save this info for future. Strangely, I left my computer for a few hours and when I came back, it was working fine. Thank you for taking the time to provide the thorough suggestions.
Take this:
- Enable the Reading Pane
- Open Outlook
- Go to the View tab
- Click Reading Pane and select Right or Bottom
- If it’s already enabled, toggle it off and back on
- Check Trust Center Settings
- Go to File > Options > Trust Center
- Click Trust Center Settings
- Under Email Security, make sure “Read all standard mail in plain text” is unchecked
- Disable Add-ins
Third-party add-ins can interfere with the preview pane.
- Go to File > Options > Add-ins
- Click Manage COM Add-ins > Go
- Uncheck all add-ins and restart Outlook
- If preview works, re-enable add-ins one by one to find the culprit
- Update Outlook
Microsoft has released updates to fix similar issues.
- Go to File > Office Account
- Click Update Options > Update Now
- Switch to Outlook Web or Classic
If you're using New Outlook, try switching temporarily:
- Use Outlook Web
- Or revert to Classic Outlook via the toggle in the top-right corner (if available)
- Recreate Your Outlook Profile
If nothing else works:
- Go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles
- Create a new profile and set it as default
- Reopen Outlook and reconfigure your account
