Outlook - read encrypted e-mail

When I get an purview encrypted e-mail (from anothter off365 tenant) in outlook desktop on Windows I can't just read the e-amil. I get a "Read Message Button" which I have to push and then the browser opens up (outlooki.office365...) and shows me the requested mail.
I'have tested that on 2 tenants with two different outlook installation - all the same.

MS says this should be possible directly into Outlook. Did I miss something.

  • Which version of Outlook are you on? And is your account provisioned for Azure RMS? When you compose a new message, do you see the Encrypt button (under Options on the Ribbon, or by selecting File)? Outlook needs to be able to connect to the Azure RMS backend in order to verify your identity/obtain a license for any encrypted messages.

When using Outlook Desktop (Version 2307 (Build 16626.20170) we can encrypt mails as you mentioned. When trying to read an encrypted mail we have this behavior I described already.
When using the new Outlook Monarch everything works as expected, I mean there is no "Read Message Button" to open up an encrypted mail.

Here is an explanation, which can cause the problem. Also a solution or workaround is mentioned
