OneNote for iPad - bug on undo in draw mode.

I make extensive handwritten notes with my Apple Pencil on my iPad Pro using Draw mode in OneNote. This week I noticed that when I hit undo, the app crashes and I have to restart completely. When restarting I find that I also lost some my most recent markings. This is very disruptive and needs to be fixed.

iPad Pro (11-inch) (4th generation)

iOS version 27.0.1

OneNote for iPad version 16.114.2 (26092517)

I now have version 16.114.4 (26100137) and it has not crashed on me. But when I undo, it sometimes moves to another part of the page and I have to scroll back to where I was writing.

A useful next test is to determine whether the crash is tied to Apple Pencil input, one page, or the Undo command itself. After confirming the notebook is fully synchronized, create a blank page and make three short strokes: one with the Pencil, one with a finger, and one with the highlighter. Undo each separately and note which action closes OneNote.

Then duplicate the affected page and test Undo on the copy. If the copy crashes but a new page does not, preserve the original and move new notes to a clean page instead of reinstalling the app immediately. If every page crashes, update OneNote from the App Store, restart the iPad, and use OneNote on the web or another synchronized device until a fixed build is available.

Send feedback from OneNote immediately after reproducing it and include the page type, input tool, app build, iPad model, iPadOS build, and approximate crash time. The important detail is the loss of recently synchronized ink, not only the application closure.

  • You have a reproducible OneNote 16.114.2 crash when Undo is used with Apple Pencil ink, followed by lost strokes. Treat this as a client regression or page-specific corruption. Before reinstalling or closing a notebook, pull down the Notebooks list to force a sync, then open it in OneNote for the web and confirm the latest pages are present; unsynced ink can be lost during a reset. Install any newer OneNote update from the App Store and restart the iPad. Reproduce the issue on a blank page and in a new notebook. If only one page fails, copy its unaffected content to a new page from the web version. If every page fails, use OneNote for the web or another synced device temporarily. Submit feedback from OneNote with diagnostics, app and iPadOS versions, notebook type, and reproduction steps. A screen recording and approximate crash time will help Microsoft correlate the report.
