OneDrive Syncing custom MacOS folder icons

I make use of custom folder icons in macOS to assist with ease of location. When I sync this hierarchy with OneDrive, it syncs the structure and all the folders and content, but the custom icons for folders are not synced and the destination hierarchy shows plain folder icons.

Does anyone know why this is the case and what I can do about it.
