one drive mapped network drive Win 10

I want to use my onedrive CID number to connect to a mapped network drive in windows explorer. But, as soon as I type my microsoft account credentials at the login prompt, it doesn't log in but just loops back to the login screen window. What should I do ? Has microsoft stopped allowing onedrive mapped network drive on windows 10 explorer ?

The login loop you're experiencing with the CID method is a known issue. That old WebDAV-based approach often fails because it doesn't handle Microsoft's modern authentication (OAuth, multi-factor authentication, and other security features) reliably.

While it's not accurate to say Microsoft has officially ended support for the CID method, many users—on both Windows 10 and 11—report that it no longer works consistently. The login loop is a typical symptom of this incompatibility.

The recommended solution is to use the official OneDrive sync client instead. It comes pre-installed with Windows, or you can download it from Microsoft's website. Once you sign in, your OneDrive appears as a folder in File Explorer, fully integrated and supporting modern authentication, offline access, and automatic syncing.

If you absolutely need a drive letter, you can map that local OneDrive folder to a drive letter (using the subst command or the "Map network drive" option pointing to the local folder path) rather than using the CID/WebDAV network mapping.

This approach is more stable, secure, and aligned with current best practices.

okay well, I have onedrive installed but not really installed if you know what I mean. Onedrive was uninstalled from program/features (btw im using win10 x64 bit), but, i can still see onedrive in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft OneDrive" so im not sure what's going on. This version of onedrive version is not even the release version, I think it came from preview build even though I am no longer subscribed to windows insider builds.
