Office 365 Spam issue

Hi,

We have a hand full of specific users that seem to get targted alot with spam. Is there something we can do to resolve this?

Example today - A user got an email from someone in the corp ( which was actually spam ) then on the replay back the address changed and it had an added charector in there. i have the header of the email i'd like someone to take a look at.

Something strange is happening for our office 365 domain.

Thanks

  • You can create a more restrictive spam/malware filter and apply it to said users, or even org-wide. Turning on some of the Advanced Spam Filtering options might help, but it might also affect some of the regular messages. Some organiztions prefer to use a transport rule that explicitly marks external messages via a disclaimer or modifying the subject, etc.

You should also report the spam messages to Microsoft using the methods described here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200769(v=exchg.150).aspx

You could try the https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/MHA/Pages/mha.aspx (or http://mxtoolbox.com/EmailHeaders.aspx) and see if that reveals anything in particular. There was a recent discussion here about spam prevention in Exchange Online Protection, with some advice.

I keep adding the spam emails to the spam filter block list, which fixes it until they get hit from another address.
