Office 365 Activity

if we enable the unified audit log will it only show the new auditing information or the past one as well?

Is it the same thing for mailbox auditing? if we enable it for all mailboxes will it show past information?

    It's only new stuff, not old stuff. It can also take a little while before the unified log is enabled and usable (you get a message when you enable it). Same holds true for mailbox auditing, it takes a little bit of time for it to become 'enabled' and capturing audit events.
