Afaik ActiveSync does not support Contact groups, thus you will not be able to use them on mobiles.

VasilMichevis correct (as always... ;-) ).
For this reason I suggested to use DLs, which can instead be accessed by the IOS EAS client.

Thanks for the reply! The problem is ... this is a private group with 3rd party (external) contacts in it. Creating a global/public distribution group would a) make it public, b) require adding the external contacts to our GAL, and c) wouldn't be managable by the end user.

You could use a new Office 365 group, make it hidden from the GAL, etc.

Thanks for the reply, Steven. While technically this would work, the contacts are primarily external and , change periodically.
