O365 different mailboxes same Display Name
Hello everybody,
this is my first question here! I hope I'm in the right section, if not please let me know :)
We have an Office365 tenant with different verified domains on it.
We have different domains that are used in Exchange Online e.g. mydomain.it and mydomain.us.
Some of our users have 2 mailboxes one on @mydomain.it and one on @mydomain.us:
- user@mydomain.it with display name "Name Surname"
- user@mydomain.us with display name "Name Surname"
The problem comes up when you search the GAL or OAB for these two-mailboxes-equipped users because you can't tell which one you are sending a meeting or an email to, if the @mydomain.it or mydomain.us (please have a look at the attached screenshot).
Is anyone facing the same problem? How do you deal with it?
Thanks
Stefano
This is the reason why many organizations use suffixes to identify people with well-known surnames. For instance:
Smith, Tom (Operations - US)
Smith, Tom (Sales - Americas)
Smith, Tom (Regional Manager, Europe)

Hi Stefano,
Is advised to that kind of cases to use a third name if the person has 3 names.
In large companies there are this kind of issues and if you can use more than 2 names you maybe do not have this kind of situations.

Seems a logic result of 2 unique names as the domains are separated.
But understand this i not the behaviour you want.

Hey Paul,
that's right, people don't understand if they're scheduling a meeting with the US or the IT user.
