Need to change a email domain to another domainname on users
Hi all,
I have a client, that needs to change their emaildomain from xx@olddomain.com to xx@newdomain.com
They have 10 users, so thats not so bad.
I have added the domain to their area in O365, so thats ready, but has not set it up on the users yet.
But I just wonder about thoose things:
- I know that I can add a new domain to become the primary adress on the single accounts, but what about their mailboxes, dop they all get a new username and password, for logging in?
- How about the emailsender in Outlook, will that change to the new address as well, when I change the primary address on O365 admin?
- Can I change the login(username and password to the new emailadress)
- Can they just use the same ost-file(folders and emails), on their accounts, or should it be synced all over again with the new account?
- What about Onedrive? Should the connection be changed also, and should they all sync from scratch?
Hope someone can clear it up, so I can proceed to help my client. I have setup a lot of O365, but never have I changes their domain, to become something else. So bear with me 🙂
Best regards

Computermusen Hi,
See my answers below your questions.

Yes, their new adress will be ttheir primary account password will not change - How about the emailsender in Outlook, will that change to the new address as well, when I change the primary address on O365 admin?
After changing, the old adress will be an alias. So they can be reached on both mailadresses. Sending email will be from the new primary account. - Can I change the login(username and password to the new emailadress)
Yes, password isn't nesscary - Can they just use the same ost-file(folders and emails), on their accounts, or should it be synced all over again with the new account?
Nothin wil change - What about Onedrive? Should the connection be changed also, and should they all sync from scratch?
This will be done by Microsoft no action for the user.

thanks for your quick answer.
So I can just change the primary username to the new emailadress on every user, and then it will become the new sender emailaname in Outlook?
Its beacuse I have tried earlier, with this solution, but didnt get any login box, to Outlook, when I started Outlook, after I had changed a testusers account.
Does it takes time for Outllok to see, that the account has been changed or is there something more I should do?
