MailboxSearch in a Hybrid Environment

Hi @All,

wondering if it´s possible to run a new-mailboxsearch over OnPrem & EO Mailboxes.

I was not able to start a search with results out of both organisations.

In the technet is written that it should possible:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200581(v=exchg.150).aspx :

"Message tracking, MailTips, and multi-mailbox search between on-premises and Exchange Online organizations"

But there is also written that you can use one OWA for both orgs with is also not really true.

Can someone explain me how to get results in ONE Mailbox Search out of BOTH organisations?

Regards

Jakob

  • You need to run separate searches. Use the Exchange search on-premises and use Office 365 content searches for Exchange Online. You'll have to combine the search results (export to PST for both environments and bring to a common location). The search technology used inside Office 365 is very different and you cannot create new Exchange searches for Exchange Online.
