Is it possible to move the Search Box in Outlook to another position ?
- Feb 27, 2020
Nope. Although they've gone through several iterations on this, so it might change in the future.
Zidong_NIE , @all,
as a temporary workaround, I added some search buttons to the Quick Access Toolbar (in my case I added 5 buttons that cover 95 % of my search options - as shown in the video) and I moved it below the ribbon. this way, when I need to run an email search (as an example):
- I select the inbox or sent folder
- I click the buttons, one by one and I type my search keys (you can see that once I click on a search button, the Search bar becomes active, meaning you can type on it at that moment
- the good thing is that the mouse pointer can stay on the Quick Access Toolbar while I type the keys on the top search bar, so you can add additional search options with minimal mouse movement. This way I am almost back to the same search speed I had before this useless interface change. I just need to use this so often that my movements become mechanical again
I hope the short video explains how it works
Emilio_Gra that's great! Thanks for sharing, that's a nice workaround I would never have thought of.
Any idea how to get the default "Search In" = "All Outlook Items" rather than just the "Current Mailbox?"
