In Outlook if I select Do Not Send a Response does my acceptance not get noted?

I have been doing this for ages - when I don't want to spam someone's inbox I accept invites and select do not send a response.

But recently (although I suspect it's always been this way) people have been saying that they see my response as 'None' when they look at the Tracking tab.

I saw that some people have complained of this in the past, but I would have assumed that it's not possible that this could still be the behaviour as it makes literally no sense that when I have accepted an invite, my response is shown as None.

Can anyone confirm behaviour as it's a little confusing

Thanks!

  • Yes, when you select "Do Not Send a Response", your acceptance is not recorded in the organizer’s tracking tab. Essentially, Outlook does not notify the organizer, so your response remains as "None" in their tracking list.

Thanks, I'm constantly amazed about usability choices Microsoft product people make. Having moved off Google Workspace I can safely say it is about 1000 times worse

All this time, I have been thinking the organizer sees my response, but did not get an email notification.  Glad to know it is showing "None", I will need to make sure I do not use this opton going forward.
