How can I sync audio with my handwritten or typed notes in OneNote

Hello, I have a habit of taking audio notes while writing, I'm looking a way to record audio notes during lectures and have it line up with my notes, so I can tap on a note and hear what was said at that exact moment. Does OneNote support this?

Enable audio recording timestamps in OneNote (automatically associate note locations when recording), or manually insert the play button (Insert > Write Notes After Recording Audio).

Thank you for your reply, it is very helpful me to record my lectures during taking notes.

  • When you record audio in OneNote while typing or handwriting notes, the app automatically time-stamps your notes. This means:

    • You can tap on a specific note and OneNote will jump to the exact moment in the audio when you wrote it.
    • During playback, OneNote will highlight your notes in sync with the audio, helping you relive the lecture or meeting as it happened.

Here’s how to set it up on OneNote for Windows:

    1. Open OneNote and go to the page where you want to take notes.
    2. Click on the Insert tab.
    3. Select Record Audio.
    4. Start typing or writing your notes while the audio is recording.
    5. When you’re done, click Stop.
    6. To replay, click the audio icon and use the Playback tab to jump to specific notes.
