  1. Could you share a little about the path you took to get to your current role?

I started working at Microsoft fairly young, and when I left there I was still very passionate about helping to drive the understanding and adoption of new technologies. Now I focus on training and consulting services, across a variety of customer sizes and industries.

  1. What are you most passionate about in IT?

Letting go of the past and embracing what’s available now. This could be making sure that unsupported server and client operating systems are replaced in a timely manner or looking for alternatives to legacy applications that are holding back other technologies in the business.

  1. What is most challenging about your industry?

Keeping skills current is the biggest challenge and ensuring those who may not live on the bleeding edge can also access the skills required.

  1. Where do you go to learn new skills or stay in front of the trends?

These days self-study is an absolute must for everyone. I mostly have RSS feeds set up for the product team blogs for direct information from Microsoft, but Twitter is great for bringing in other points of view. Because one of my focus areas is Enterprise Mobility + Security, staying current on that is an ongoing effort, and attending events like Ignite and Tech Summits is absolutely critical to my knowledge.

  1. What cloud or IT trends are you paying the most attention to these days?

Windows has been my focus area for over 25 years now, and managing Windows 10 with Enterprise Mobility + Security, and now the Microsoft 365 offerings give me more than enough to focus on.

Is this a joke? Office 2007 is no longer supported, and this isn't the appropriate thread to post tech support questions on.
  • I know Mark and can vouch that he is a stand up chap who knows his stuff!
