Excel in Mac Complex Script Text is Broken

Complex scripts such as Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam are failing in excel in mac   Formula bar, Drop drop list is displaying correctly   But all cell view are displaying broken text.   Off...

I tested with different machine

 

1.

Intel based machine, Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7

MS office 16.54 (21101001), Excel fails to display text correctly

 

2.

Apple Silicon based machine, Mac OS Monterey 12.0.1 build: 21A559

MS Office 16.54 (21101001), Excel fails to display text correctly

 

3.

Apple Silicon based machine, Mac OS Monterey 12.0.1 build: 21A559

MS Office 16.42 (20101102), Excel fails to display text correctly

 

4.

Apple Silicon based machine, Mac OS Monterey 12.0.1 build: 21A559

MS Office 16.34 (20020900), Excel displays text correctly

 

5.

Intel based machine, Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7

MS office 16.34 (20020900), Excel displays text correctly

 

So, excel has stopped displaying complex text correctly after 16.34 (20020900), before 16.42 (20101102)

 

It is not OS dependent, it not processor architecture dependent (x86 vs arm)

However, in version 16.34 (20020900) in Apple Silicon processor,

 

Text in address bar is broken

But in the cell, text is display correctly

Dropdown menu also displays the text correctly.

 

So, it is inherently, there is a serious bug in Excel with complex texts. such as Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and other Indic scripts.
