Excel 365 remove border keyboard shortcut

I am trying to more efficiently tune borders for cell selections in Excel 365. After searching for keyboard shortcuts, I found these from support.microsoft.com

'Apply an outline border to the selected cells' --> Ctrl+Shift+Ampersand works fine, but 'Remove the outline border from the selected cells' --> Ctrl+Shift+Underscore (_) effects the zoom level by zooming out but does not remove borders. This occurs using both Chrome and Edge browsers.

Is there a way to correct this or otherwise advice on more efficiently removing and applying an outline border to a cell selection?
