Agree with Dean_Gross, and if you want to assign Exchange Server mailbox, you need to sync users with Azure AD Connect

That won't help as we need to migrate those users to the AD in a couple of months and then we need to do a mail migration for those users. So assigning an ExO license is no option...

OrtizFeb 14, 2018Iron ContributorWhen you say AD I asume it's local (on-premises). So, if you will perform a mail migration that means you already have mail enabled users on-premises? If so, the way to go is syncing form local AD to Azure AD, and not the other way round.

Yes, right now we have one AD (onprem) bound to AAD. Within AAD we have synced and cloud users as some users from other ADs need to work with SPO currently but their AD account is not migrated to the AD which is synced to AAD. So we need to mail enable those cloud users in order to get mail notifications from SPO to their active mailbox prior to mail migrating them with their onprem mailbox to ExO.
Is that clear what I want to tell? :)
