Downsizing your Office 365 tenant from "First Release" to "Selected Users On First Release"

Which influence has this on the users who is first disabled as "First Release" and thereafter assigned to "Selected Users On First Release".

Will the Office365 services contain the data and settings before downgrading?

  • I'm a little bit confused as to what you're asking, but I'll take a stab.

If you move from First Release for the entire tenant down to Selected Users, the services will still be the same but the availability of those features under First Release will only be visible to the selected users - not everyone else.

My questions is if a user has created content in a first release service and then the user is deactivated from this service and finally again attached to the service, is the content still there?

A sceanario could be a user has used Microsoft Teams under first release, where he has created channels, tabs and posts in several teams, what happens when the process above is carried out?

Content always remains intact. The only thing that people loss when they revert from First Release to Standard Release is access to specific functionality that is limited to First Release users.

  • The main difference is that all the new stuff you were used to see in Office 365 is not going to be there anymore and some of your users (the one included in the selective first release) will see some of the new stuff coming to Office 365 before reaching GA

Thanks for your input. My concern is that the selected users being re-assigned as "Selected Users On First Release", will the services under first release they have been using still contain their data and setup. Microsoft Support have no articles that describe this scenario.
