Cross Forest Shared Mailbox Access

My company merged with another recently. Both are on Office 365 & I've taken over systems management duties for the other company. I've got the 2 networks & AD domains talking & trusting each other. Now I've been been asked to provide a user in Company1 access to a shared mailbox in Company2. I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it short of creating an Office 365 account in Company2 for the user in Company1 & assigning an Exchange license. Am I missing something?

  • Hi Roger,

Since there are two tenants the only solution is that you have described.

You will need a user account with password (and license) on the destination tenant to have access to a shared mailbox.
