Beginner question about domains / mail boxes

I'm trying to figure out the following as I'm quite new to the Office 365 world - but I find it a fantastic tool. Great job Microsoft !

I advise to see the courses on this url https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Office-365-admin-and-IT-pro-courses-68cc9b95-0bdc-491e-a81f-ee70b3ec63c5 is a good start to learn more about office 365.
To use the email0s as logins you first need to validate your domain.
The custom url you can have a DNS CNAME pointing to Office 365 portal.
