FSLogix 2210 with hotfix 2 (black screen and hangs)

Since HF2 we've been experiencing lot's of black screens.

Install Appackges Setting is off, but despite this setting fslogix hangs for many minutes.

[16:17:57.450][tid:00000e14.00007c78][INFO] Configuration setting not found: SOFTWARE\FSLogix\Profiles\InstallAppxPackages. Using default: 1
[16:17:57.450][tid:00000e14.00007c78][INFO] Session configuration wrote (DWORD): SOFTWARE\FSLogix\Profiles\Sessions\S-1-5-21-zzzzzzzz\InstallAppxPackages = '1'
[16:20:27.638][tid:00000e14.00007c78][ERROR:800706be] AppxPackage installation error: (Kan RPC niet uitvoeren.)

In this case the example hangs for 2,5 minute.

Is there anyone who is experiencing this too?

  • Hi KleinVuur,

This issue is caused by the InstallAppxPackages setting, even if it is disabled.

There is a workaround for this issue, which is to set the following registry key to 0:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FSLogix\Profiles\InstallAppxPackages

This will disable the installation of AppxPackages during the logon process, and should resolve the black screen and hang issue.

Here are the steps to set the registry key:

    1. Open the Registry Editor.
    2. Navigate to the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FSLogix\Profiles
    1. If the InstallAppxPackages key does not exist, create a new DWORD value with that name.
    2. Set the value of the InstallAppxPackages key to 0.
    3. Click OK to save your changes.

Once you have made this change, restart your computer.

If you are still having the same issue, you can use this steps (for additional troubleshooting):

    • Make sure that you are running the latest version of FSLogix.
    • Verify that the FSLogix service is running.
    • Restart the FSLogix service.
    • Check the FSLogix logs for any errors.
    • Disable any third-party antivirus or antimalware software that you are using.

It seems the reg setting and a gpupdate was enough, but it works for now.
I'm not able to get the same black screens again.

      Thanks for your help

KleinVuur Hello, we tried this solution, among with many others, but still couldn't fix our black screen at login issue.

        Any help is appreciated.

        Thanks
