Outlook Desktop users continually prompted for credentials On-Prem Exchange SE

Battling ongoing issues with users being continually prompted for password using Outlook 2024 LTSC with on-prem Exchange 2019 SE. Removed Windows credentials, turned off cache mode, removed shared calendar(s), outlook connection status seems fine. Only (temp) workaround seems to be removing mail profile and recreating it. All other network resources on domain are fine. Any input appreciated. Thanks

That sounds frustrating. If recreating the Outlook profile only provides temporary relief, it may be worth checking whether the issue is related to Modern Authentication, Autodiscover configuration, Outlook build compatibility, or authentication settings on the Exchange server. Also review the Exchange health, IIS authentication logs, and Event Viewer on both the client and server to identify recurring authentication failures. It would also help to know if the prompts affect all users or only a specific group, as that can narrow down the root cause.

  • Hi, repeated Outlook credential prompts usually point to Autodiscover, virtual directory URLs, authentication methods, or certificate mismatch. Compare internal and external URLs across Exchange virtual directories and confirm the certificate name matches what Outlook is using. Also check whether Modern Auth settings match your Outlook 2024 LTSC/on-prem Exchange SE setup.
