Worksheet language and direction malfunction
Hi!
I'm Brazilian and the default language of my computer settings is Portuguese (which is written left to right). However, whenever I create a new Excel file, the file, although having Portuguese as the display language, always has its worksheets direction as right to left. Moreover, the default name of its first worksheet as "גיליון1", which is Hebrew.
Strangely enough, that only happens if I create the files by clicking a Windows Explorer window (or the desktop window) with my mouse's right button and selecting "new"and then "Microsoft Excel worksheet",
If instead I create a file inside Excel, by selecting "file" and then "new", the direction and the worksheets' names are correct, that is, are in Portuguese.
I tried going to "options", and then "advanced" and changing the worksheet direction. But it only works for that specific file. If I go on to create a new one, the direction will be right to left for the new file.
I also checked the language preferences in "options", and then "languages", but, even though Hebrew was indeed listed as one of the Office display languages available, Portuguese was the one selected.
I even tried switching the preferences to Hebrew and then swithcing back to Portuguese, but that didn't solve the issue.
I'd appreciate some help with this.
Thanks in advance!

- JKPieterseSilver ContributorWhat language and region is your Windows set to? I seem to recall the process of creating an Excel file by using the "New" right-click in explorer produces a rather different type of Excel file.
- felipeleite425Copper ContributorHey, Jan! Thanks for the reply. The language and region were correct, but somehow the problem persisted. Somebody in another forum helped me, though. They directed me to this link, which perfectly descibred the problem I was having: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/excel/first-sheet-name-displays-different-language.
Thank you!
